I was
born in Summer 1994, and grew up in Bavaria, a Southern region of Germany. Ever
since I could walk, I would run over rich meadows, hike the mountains and take
extended walks in the thickets of the woods. People say I was always a friendly,
polite and curious child. I used to draw and write from an early age on, and a
former teacher of mine commented on my “thirst for knowledge”. Even as a child,
I would know the names of most plants and minerals and learn to identify them
quickly. My music was the leaves rustling in the wind, the rain crushing against
my windows and the bird’s song in the trees. I also learned to read at a very
early age and this desire would only be increased through adolescence into my
now early twenties. Mythology, folklore and the fantasy of seemingly imaginary
realms would become a huge part of my life later on, rooting in my interests as
a child.
Particularly interested and gifted with languages and literature, those would be
my favorite subjects in school. I graduated from our high school system in 2012
and, without a meticulously planned path, I would choose my interests for my
studies at university where I would start four months after finishing high
school. The following four years were probably the most trying ones of my life
yet, but hard work and determination would lead to success, culminating in a
Bachelor’s thesis combining two fields of interest particularly dear to my
heart: British and Scottish literature, and pre-Christian, pagan culture and
history.
Two years
into my studies, it was time to me to get the internship required for my major.
I chose to work at a desk for one of the most known newspapers here. That desk
is located in my hometown, so I could both be at home and work. What began as a
requirement for my studies turned quickly into a passion that gave meaning to
me. So much that I continued to work as a freelancer on the weekends even when
the university life kicked back in. I learned so much in those years, and it
would determine the path I would take after graduating.
While
finishing my Bachelor’s thesis, I applied for a trainee program to become an
editor at the same newspaper I worked for two years. I got it, and this is one
of the biggest achievements for me so far. I consider myself incredibly blessed
to be able to combine my passion and work, as not many have that privilege. I
may not now how my road will go on, but for the next year and a half, my life’s
settled.
I am
constantly striving to accumulate knowledge. But I realized that storing
information is not the most important thing. It’s practicing what you’ve learned
that matters. While I believe that learning as much as you can, I also am a
defender of intuitive learning. Norse and Celtic culture, worldview and history
call to me, and in my research I have found that the people of Bavaria most
likely combine both bloodlines in their veins. What also calls to me is
cosmology, astronomy and environmentalism. Our bodies are mostly made of water,
and as the moon and stars and planets influence the ocean’s tides, it would be
ignorant to deny the fact that they have an influence on our systems, as well,
since the ratio of water in our body is an exact replication of the ratio of
water to land. I am also an Animist, since to me everything has a soul, a
spirit. I live a vegan lifestyle, not just for the health-benefits, but also out
of respect to everything around us. Humankind has done enough irreversible
damage to our planets, and it is not necessary in this enlightened age to rely
on the energy sources that our ancestors drew from. I am a strong believer in
doing what’s right for you and what makes you feel good, and as long as one
doesn’t harm anyone else whilst doing so, no one has the right to judge you for
this. As long as you do your work and live in harmony with your surroundings,
everyone is entitled to their own opinion and views. I am also a defender of
doing what is necessary to make your family proud and to honor them because when
it comes down to it, family is the most important thing you got.
This
website is an online representation of who I am and my work at the moment, and
thus, it is everchanging, ever evolving. On it, you will mostly find samples of
my work as a journalist, reviews and thoughts on books I have read, and
eventually, maybe also artwork, current projects and other tid-bits of my
creation. All artwork on this page, unless stated otherwise, is mine. Using it
without proper authorization will lead to lawsuits.
